Saturday, September 9, 10 a.m. to noon, Edmonds Community College, Snohomish Hall, Room 338.  Welcome back to the first meeting of our new Program Year!  Activities include an ice-breaker led by Eva Mehaffey, a short history of our branch researched by our historian Jane Simpson and charter member Barbara Bentson, and an overview of programs and business. Meet our college scholarship recipient.

October, 2018

Saturday, October 13, 10 a.m. to noon, Edmonds Community College, Snoqualmie Hall, Room 113. Getting Involved in Public Policy. Panelists include Mary Helen Roberts (former 21st District legislator, Karen Anderson, AAUW-WA Public Policy Director, and Pam Crone, AAUW-WA lobbyist.

November, 2018

Saturday, November 10, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Third Place Commons. Special presentation by Anu Taranath, “Not Just for Kids: How Children’s Literature Inspires Bold Conversations.”

This is a Humanities Washington program co-sponsored by our branch with AAUW Seattle Branch. The program will be followed by our Branch meeting, 11:45 to 12:30.

December, 2018

Saturday, December 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Holiday Brunch and Auction, EdCC Gateway Hall, Room 352. A fundraising event for scholarships. Guest speaker will be DeLancey Lane, College and University Relations Liaison, AAUW–Washington State.

January, 2019

Saturday, January 12, 10 a.m. to noon, Fairwinds Brighton Court. Guest presenter is Renee Reed, founder of 6 Movements Fitness Studio. Renee will talk about how to stay fit using balance and physical activities.

Program Cancelled Due to Weather Saturday, February 9, 10 a.m. to noon, Building 1000, Room 1010, Shoreline Community College. Our guest speaker is Dr. Marisa Herrera, Vice President for Students, Equity and Success at Shoreline Community College.

 

March, 2019

Saturday, March 9, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Spring Tea and Fundraiser. Trinity Lutheran Church. Featuring an historical fashion show, “Famous Mothers.” $20 per person.

Tuesday, March 12, 6 to 8 p.m., Plaza Room above the Edmonds Library.
Documentary film, Resilience: The Biology of Stress and Science of Hope. Sponsored by the Children’s Services Committee of the League of Women Voters and AAUW.

April, 2019

Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m. to noon, EdCC Snohomish Hall, Room 338. (Date changed because of AAUW-WA State Annual Meeting on April 13)  Branch Annual Meeting and elections. Member Lori Cross will speak about navigating the health care system.

Saturday, April 6, 7-9 pm, and Sunday, April 7, 2-4 pm. Many Maps, One Voice, a one-woman play. Jane Fellows will embody the political activist and housewife Mary Ellen McCaffree, who plunged into the fray of legislative redistricting in order to secure funding for her kids’ neglected schools. This play is co-sponsored with the League of Women Voters.
